Hannah serves as a Managing Counsel and is a licensed attorney in Nigeria. She obtained her law degree from Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma and holds a Master of Business Administration from Coventry University, United Kingdom. Additionally, Hannah holds a Master of Laws degree in Commercial Law from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Kaduna.
Prior to joining Maverick Solicitors, Hannah gained valuable experience working with various organizations, including the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Abuja within the Legal, Licensing & Enforcement Division, the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Alausa, and with prominent construction firms in Nigeria.
Hannah's expertise lies in Transaction Advisory, specifically involving the drafting, negotiation, and review of transaction documents related to energy and natural resources, finance, technology, telecommunications, as well as projects and infrastructure development. She possesses extensive hands-on experience advising a diverse array of clients, including project sponsors, developers, and development finance institutions, on energy infrastructure projects. This includes providing counsel on project documentation, commissioning, decommissioning, and the acquisition and divestment of oil and gas assets. She also provides guidance to clients on Nigerian law and policies that impact business operations, foreign business establishment, foreign investments in Nigeria, and company/business laws and regulations.
Furthermore, Hannah is an integral part of a team responsible for monitoring and interpreting relevant draft legislation produced by the Nigerian National Assembly, with a particular focus on how these legislative developments impact the Oil and Gas industry and the interests of the clients she currently manages.
Beyond her legal career, Hannah is dedicated to contributing to the Gender Justice Sector through her voluntary work. She actively supports victims of sexual violence in their pursuit of justice, exemplifying her commitment to making a positive societal impact.
Advised a prominent international e-commerce company on the potential launch of its consumer operations in Nigeria;
Provided counsel to International Oil Companies (IOCs) regarding the implications of the Nigerian Petroleum Industry Act on their operations in NigeriaAdvised an international oil company on the divestment of its onshore and shallow water assets in Nigeria;
Assisted a Nigerian indigenous midstream company in acquiring interests in a major gas distribution company in Nigeria;
Advised the proposed concessionaire on downstream petroleum infrastructure development, construction, and rehabilitation through a design, finance, build, operate, maintain, and transfer model;
Provided legal guidance to a power generation and infrastructure development firm on gas offtake for its power plant operations and power supply arrangements. This complex transaction blended elements from both regulated pricing regimes and commercially driven contracts;
Contributed to a team providing legal advisory services to various oil and gas exploration and production companies on their proposed acquisitions and divestments of interests in acreages, production and development operations, and crude sale and purchase transactions;
Played a role in advising a renowned luxury brand in the acquisition of a multi-billion Naira property.
